About Ascoril LS Junior Expectorant 60 ml
Ascoril LS Junior Expectorant 60 ml belongs to the class of medicines called ‘expectorants‘ primarily used to treat cough associated with mucus. Coughing (dry or productive) is a body’s way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus or smoke) from airways and preventing infection. There are two types of coughs, namely: dry cough and chesty cough. A dry cough is tickly and doesn’t produce any vicious or thick mucus, while a chesty cough (wet cough) means mucous or sputum is produced to help clear your airways.
Ascoril LS Junior Expectorant 60 ml is a combination of three drugs, namely Levosalbutamol (bronchodilator), Ambroxol (mucolytic agent), and Guaiphenesin (expectorant). Levosalbutamol works by relaxing muscles and widening the airways of the lungs. Ambroxol works by thinning and loosening phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nose. Thereby, helps to cough out easily. Guaiphenesin increases the volume of fluid in the airways, reduce the stickiness of mucus, and helps to remove it from airways. Together, Ascoril LS Junior Expectorant 60 ml helps provide relief from cough.
Take Ascoril LS Junior Expectorant 60 ml with or without food as advised by your doctor with the help of a measuring cup. Your doctor will recommend how often you need to take Ascoril LS Junior Expectorant 60 ml based on your medical condition. If you are suffering from fits or have a history of fits, please inform your doctor before taking Ascoril LS Junior Expectorant 60 ml as it may increase the risk of recurrent fits. If you have diabetes, regular monitoring of blood sugar levels is recommended while taking Ascoril LS Junior Expectorant 60 ml. Drink plenty of fluids while taking Ascoril LS Junior Expectorant 60 ml to loosen mucus. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medications to rule out any interactions/side effects.
